SDI Project
Diaspora Linkages for ICT Growth, Sri Lanka
SDI has coordinated a matchmaking project to connect Sri Lanka’s North American diaspora with promising small/new ICT ventures in their home country. The project connected dozens of US-based firms and individuals with Sri Lankan companies to discuss investments of time or resources to help the new ventures open global markets, upgrade skills, and improve workflow or technologies. The project builds upon a matchmaking road show undertaken in 2001 by SDI principals that successfully connected US and Sri Lankan investors and ICT companies including Pittsburgh-based Textcentric.com, co-founded by a Sri Lankan who is a Carnegie-Mellon University professor.
